Tuesday night open session

Every Tuesday from 7-9pm at Clydebank Leisure Centre we will be running an open judo session for seniors and youths. The sessions will start with a technical component then there will be at least an hour of randori (free practice). The sessions will be led by our head coach Paul and throughout the year our selection of guest coaches (see below) will be taking the role as lead coach. The first session of 2019 will be led by Gordon Cameron on the 8th of January, all sessions will cost £5. Look forward to seeing you all there.

Gordon Cameron

Gordon 'Weeg' Cameron 5th Dan will be the first of our guest coaches to take our Tuesday night session. Gordon is a fantastic judoka with a wealth of experience which saw him at the top of his game for many years. Come along to learn from Gordon a winner of the Matsumae Cup and a Commonwealth medallist. 

Graeme Randall MBE

Graeme Randall MBE 6th Dan became Scotlands only ever World Champion in 1999. The two time Olympian followed up with a Commonwealth Gold at Manchester in 2002

Colin McIver

Colin is still one of the most successful Olympic managers in GB history. The former Scottish National Coach went on to his current role within judo as the BJA Sport Director, his passion for the sport saw him achieve the lofty grade of 9th Dan.

David Somerville

Olympian David Somerville 6th Dan was the first GB athlete to win a medal at the illustrious Jigaro Kano Cup in Japan. As well as being a Commonwealth medallist himself he was the National High Performance Coach who helped the team achieve the unbelievable tally of 13 medals at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Gary Edwards

Gary Edwards 6th Dan is the highly successful National Talent Development Head Coach for JudoScotland. The former British number one and  Junior European medallist has travelled the world as part of a GB team competing in Senior Europeans and Commonwealth Games.
