You're already part of it!
The next stage out of our recreational classes is to start attending competitive events, we have players at a variety of levels and all are training for continual improvement. To give you an idea of our event pathway please look below:
Club events - Our own festivals where the kids compete against their friends from the club.
Inter- club events - Similar to above but with a selected number of clubs so the kids still have a good experience.
Entry level competitions - These events are open to all clubs and start to become more challenging
Grand Prix events - These are events that the kids can start to really challenge themselves by fighting some of the best players
Scottish National Championships - This event brings the best players in the country together
GB Ranking events - Starting to work towards bigger events and GB squads
International events - Can be selected by Scotland or GB to attend this level
Whatever level you are working toward, our Tuesday session at 7pm will help you best prepare for competitions and help you to understand your own judo strategies. If you are interested in taking part please contact Paul or Joe, attendance to this class is not selection based and open to all kids 8 years and above who are willing to work hard.

Other ways to be part of the team
We would love to have our own referees and technical officials to help support our team and the events we attend.
Who is the Referee?
The referee is the volunteer who can be found in the centre of all the action at tournaments and gradings ensuring the contests are conducted in a fair and safe way. What Does the Referee Do? Referees ensure that contests are conducted safely and correctly, following approved contest rules, and ultimately making the call on who wins or loses by giving scores/penalities to Judoka. How Do I Become A Referee? If you are at least a green belt and over the age of 12 you can start your refereeing journey. As you build your skills and experience you will have the opportunity to advance through a structure of eight levels. |
Who is a Technical Official?
From Timekeepers to Competition Controllers Technical Officials are the volunteers at events that carry out roles other than the referee. What Does A Technical Official Do? There are several different positions of a technical official in Judo. Usually found at the control table or mat side, a technical official ensures the smooth running of an event. How Do I Become A Technical Official? The great news is that to start your technical official journey, no judo experience is required! JudoScotland will provide all the training you need to start as a timekeeper. |
